Why you couldn't wash with hot water after 8:00 PM in the USSR — a strange fact.

In the past Soviet Union, there were many strange prohibitions and restrictions. One of such unusual prohibitions was to forbid washing with hot water after 8:00 PM.
Doctors at that Time recommended avoiding hot showers at night. Therefore, after 8:00 PM, it was simply advised not to wash with hot water. This ban was explained by the fact that before sleep, body temperature should drop, not rise.
Doctors suggested taking a cold shower to improve the quality of sleep. They believed that after a hot bath, a person might feel tired, not sleepy. Thus, the ideal time for a hot shower was determined to be before 8:00 PM.
Scientists believed that lowering body temperature before sleep contributes to the activation of growth hormones. However, not everyone was suited for a cold shower, and one needed to prepare for such a procedure. It also turned out that even warm water could lower body temperature depending on the duration of the bath, water temperature, and individual characteristics of the body.
