The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has appealed to the Anti-Corruption Court to obtain access to the materials of the inheritance case, which was opened after the death of the father of former minister Volodymyr Tabachnyk. This information is provided by 'Glavcom' in its article 'Crimean cowboy Dmytro Tabachnyk. A new business empire and... the results of the former minister of education's analyses.'

It was also revealed that Volodymyr Tabachnyk passed away at the beginning of 2020. In June of the same year, Mykhailo Tabachnyk, the brother of the former minister, filed a statement with a notary about accepting the inheritance. The inheritance included an apartment in Kyiv at Yaroslaviv Val Street, 28, with a total area of 126.5 sq. m. Half of this apartment belonged to the late father of Dmytro Tabachnyk.

The Ministry of Justice established that Dmytro Tabachnyk was registered in this apartment, which allowed for the confiscation of part of the property in favor of the state.

Confiscation of Dmytro Tabachnyk’s property

  • half of the apartment on Yaroslaviv Val in Kyiv;
  • five plots of land in elite Kozyn;
  • a house in Kozyn on the banks of the Dnipro with an area of 672 sq. m;
  • almost $144,000 in a bank account;
  • the right to compensation of 40.6 million UAH;
  • the right of claim against one of the banks for 191,000 UAH.

The court confiscated all property that was registered in the name of Dmytro Tabachnyk or his mother Alla Tabachnyk.

It is worth mentioning that Dmytro Tabachnyk has been officially recognized as a state traitor in Ukraine. In spring 2024, the judiciary sentenced him to 15 years in prison under the articles of the Criminal Code 'Treason', 'Aiding the aggressor state', and 'Violation of the laws and customs of war'. The appellate court upheld this sentence.

Thus, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has appealed to the Anti-Corruption Court to obtain access to the inheritance materials of Volodymyr Tabachnyk. Dmytro Tabachnyk was registered in the apartment that was inherited, so this part of the property was confiscated in favor of the state. Furthermore, the appellate court upheld the 15-year prison sentence for Dmytro Tabachnyk.
