Macron emphasized that Russia's actions pose a threat to Europe, including France, and Paris supports Ukraine by imposing sanctions against Moscow.
The French leader noted that the conflict in Ukraine is of great significance not only for the Ukrainian people but also for the security of France. He also expressed outrage over the potential weakening of U.S. support for Ukraine and urged European countries to increase their defense spending.
A meeting of countries willing to guarantee peace in Ukraine has been announced to take place in Paris next week. Macron also pointed out that the deployment of European forces may be necessary to ensure peace is maintained after its signing.
The President of France emphasized that the path to peace goes through supporting Ukraine and announced that a plan for sustainable and long-term peace in Ukraine was developed together with Ukraine and other European countries.
Macron reminded about France's nuclear potential and stated that Paris has the strongest army in Europe. He also announced new investments in the defense sector that will be implemented without raising taxes.
The President of France responded to the proposal to expand the French nuclear 'umbrella' to allies and stated that this requires discussion, but the final decision will rest with him and the army's command.
