Gerasimov is a key figure in the Russian military machine, the main strategist of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the permanent chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, and a personal friend of Vladimir Putin, the insurgents point out.

'Atesh' indicates that undergoing a military medical commission is formally a standard procedure. However, when such an important person as Gerasimov does it, it can be a serious signal.
