Northern Lights Appeared Over Ukraine (photo).


On the night of August 13, the northern lights were observed in various regions of Ukraine. Social media users shared photos of the sky.
This phenomenon was observed in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions.
Gallery BlockAccording to astronomer Volodymyr Kazhanov, some people notice this phenomenon without the aid of special devices, just by looking at the sky, while for others, adaptation of the eyes to the darkness helps. He recommends watching the sky for 10-20 minutes without looking at anything bright.
He also mentioned that these days one can observe the «August Meteor Shower» — the Perseid meteor stream.
According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Sun has had at least five strong solar flares since August 10, reports Associated Press.
These solar storms, which lasted over the weekend, caused faint colored northern lights across the Northern Hemisphere.
Let us remind you that on the night of August 12 to 13, the brightest Perseid meteor shower can be observed, and on the night of August 13 to 14, a rare cosmic event when Mars and Jupiter will come close together in the night sky.
