UN records sharp increase in crimes against Ukrainian children.


UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern over the rise in violations of children's rights due to Russia's actions in Ukraine. According to him, the situation regarding children's rights as a result of Russia's military aggression in Ukraine has significantly worsened this year.

'During the reporting period (2024-2025), the UN recorded 94 killings and 577 injuries among children as a result of actions by Russian military and affiliated groups,' Guterres emphasized.
The Russian armed forces have been included in the list of state institutions that systematically violate children's rights. This concerns not only Russia but also several other countries that violate the rights of the youngest. It is also worth noting that the Russian authorities attempted to exchange Ukrainian children for their military personnel as part of the prisoner exchange of soldiers.
