First Frost: Meteorologist Warns When Ukraine Will Face the True Autumn.

October 2024: From Warmth to Rains and Possible Snow
Ukraine is preparing for a contrasting and unexpected October 2024, according to preliminary meteorological forecasts. The beginning of the month promises to be extraordinarily warm, continuing the heat of September, but this heat will quickly be replaced by autumn weather conditions with cooling already from October 5-6.
He notes that the sharp cooling will come with the invasion of Arctic air masses. The temperature will sharply drop by 7-13 degrees, accompanied by rains and strengthening northwesterly winds. It is this change in weather that will mark the beginning of the meteorological autumn in Ukraine. The first frosts are expected in the period from October 7 to 10.
However, already at the beginning of the second decade of the month, the temperature will begin to rise again thanks to the warm air masses from the southwest of Europe. Despite the warmth, rains are expected as the high-pressure field remains stable. But in the third decade of October, abundant and frequent rains are expected, caused by southern processes over the Mediterranean Sea and the Balkan Peninsula.
The meteorologist also does not exclude the possibility of the first snow in the third decade of October, especially in the foothill areas and Polissya. However, the formation of a snow cover, even a temporary one, is unlikely.
Overall, October 2024 is expected to be warmer than usual, especially in the southeastern half and Crimea. Precipitation will be close to the norm, but in the western and southern regions a significant increase in it is expected. Most of the precipitation will fall in the second half of the month.
However, in the northeastern part of Ukraine, drought will continue to be a concern, even short-term rains will not be able to significantly improve the situation with insufficient soil moisture.
