Officials in Kyiv region embezzled nearly 5 million on housing restoration.

The Kyiv regional prosecutor's office announced the suspicion of the organizer and eight other participants of the criminal organization that embezzled budget funds. Among the defendants are the deputy head and two officials of one of the city councils in the Kyiv region.

On July 17, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported this.

Officials exposed for embezzlement of budget funds

According to the investigation, a private entrepreneur together with city council officials and contractors embezzled budget funds allocated for the restoration of residential buildings affected during the full-scale Russian invasion.

The perpetrators inflated the cost of construction works and included false data in the acts of completed works. They managed to illegally obtain 4.6 million hryvnias from the budget.

The defendants are charged with creating and participating in a criminal organization, misappropriation of someone else's property, forgery of documents, and legalization of property obtained by criminal means.

It should be noted that a series of criminal cases related to city administration officials are unfolding in Kyiv.

It was also previously reported that one of the former heads of 'Kyivzelenbud' was detained.
