What will the military police do? Explanations from the Ministry of Defense.

According to the authorized representative of the Ministry of Defense for military police issues, Ilya Kostin, the military police will operate on the basis of the principles of the Military Law Enforcement Service, but will have expanded powers. The main functions of the military police will be maintaining military discipline, operational-search activities, investigation of military crimes, as well as protecting the rights of military personnel and enforcing punishments. The military police will investigate exclusively military crimes. This is a very relevant issue, as Ukraine is the only regional military formation without a military police. The draft law on the creation of such a police force has already passed the first reading and is awaiting the second reading, for which the Ministry of Defense has prepared proposals.
