Taiwan accused China of deepening influence and infiltration.

The President of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, stated that China is increasingly intensifying influence and infiltration campaigns against Taiwan and promises to take measures against Beijing's attempts to 'absorb' the island.
Taiwan accused China of increasing military exercises, trade sanctions, and influence campaigns against the island to force it to recognize claims of sovereignty.
Beijing is using Taiwan's democracy for the 'absorption' of various members of society, including criminal groups, media personalities, and military officers. They engage in activities such as division, destruction, and subversion from within, - said Lai.
China's Taiwan Affairs Office condemned Lai's statements and warned of firm actions if 'separatist forces for Taiwan's independence' cross the 'red line.'
'A stern warning from Lai's administration: those who play with fire will inevitably get burned, and those who forget their roots will never have a good ending,' said a spokesman for the office.
The spokeswoman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that regardless of Lai's administration's statements, Taiwan is a part of China and will inevitably return to the motherland.
The President of Taiwan proposed 17 countermeasures, including reviewing applications for visiting Taiwan and residence for Chinese citizens, as well as resuming military court operations.
Lai also stated that the government will make 'necessary adjustments' regarding the flows of money, people, and technology across the strait, as well as issue 'reminders' to Taiwanese actors and singers regarding their statements and actions.
China's Taiwan Affairs Office noted that it is 'perfectly natural' for Taiwanese to express their recognition of China, but appearances by some Taiwanese celebrities on social media have caused public outrage on the island.
