Anti-tank mines found in boxes at IKEA warehouse in Poland.
Over 200 anti-tank mines with explosives were discovered at the warehouse of IKEA in Poland.
The scandal involving the loss of more than 200 anti-tank mines containing 2.2 tons of explosives led to the dismissal of Polish Major General Artur Kępczyński, who headed the Military Support Inspection. This was reported by Poland's Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, as stated by Bild.
The mines, which were packed into 40 boxes, were transported for 11 days without registration and ended up at one of IKEA's warehouses.
The incident occurred in July 2024 when TM-62M mines were being transported from a military depot near Szczecin. Soldiers unloading the cargo overlooked some of the mines, and they simply passed through Polish territory. General Kępczyński was aware of this but did not report it or take any action.
After the losses were discovered, the prosecutor's office began an investigation, but the case dragged on. During the investigation, one of the soldiers accused of insufficient control over military property could not withstand the pressure and committed suicide.
