The US Accused Flighttime Enterprises Inc. and Its Employees of Illegal Export of Aircraft Parts to Russia
The US Department of Justice has accused the American company Flighttime Enterprises Inc. and three of its employees of illegally exporting aircraft parts to Russia. They are charged with violating a sanctions scheme imposed by Washington on Russian airlines.
Flighttime Enterprises Inc. is a subsidiary of a Russian aircraft parts supplier. According to the Department of Justice, the company and its employees are accused of federal crimes related to the illegal export of aircraft parts and components to Russia and Russian airlines without the necessary licenses from the Department of Commerce.
Among the accused individuals are a naturalized US citizen, a Russian citizen, and a legal permanent resident of the US.
According to the Department, the company and employees knowingly violated export restrictions that were imposed on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. They sent aircraft parts to Russia and Russian airlines, including those subject to the Department of Commerce's Temporary Orders, through various illegal actions such as mislabeling shipments and using intermediary companies to conceal the true destination and end users.
The charges concern four specific export operations totaling over 2 million dollars. Each of the accused faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to violate the Export Control Reform Act, smuggling, and money laundering. Under the law, these crimes carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
