Ukraine has nationalized the assets of the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska for more than 2 billion UAH. This includes over 550 thousand tons of bauxite and alumina that were produced in Ukraine before the start of the war. This information is reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to the Security Service of Ukraine. The High Anti-Corruption Court granted the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice regarding the recovery in favor of Ukraine of products and raw materials belonging to the sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. This concerns over 550 thousand tons of bauxite and alumina that were produced in Ukraine before the start of the full-scale war. The Security Service reported that these materials were stored in the warehouses of the Mykolaiv alumina plant, which was previously owned by Deripaska. They were used for aluminum smelting at the oligarch's factories in the Russian Federation, which manufactures components for ballistic missiles, combat drones, and radar systems. The estimated value of the nationalized assets is over 2 billion UAH. The Security Service reminds that Deripaska is one of Putin's closest associates and the main financier of the Russian war against Ukraine. According to the materials of the case, the bauxite and alumina were owned by Deripaska through his company registered in one of the EU countries. It is worth noting that in Ukraine, a court established a freeze on the 'new' assets of the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska amounting to 2.11 billion UAH. 'This is almost 500 thousand tons of bauxite and alumina that were manufactured in Ukraine before the invasion. They were stored in the warehouses of the Mykolaiv alumina plant, which was previously owned by a Russian. The total value of the arrested assets is over 2.11 billion UAH,' the SBU stated. It is pointed out that the arrested products were a key component in the production of aluminum at Deripaska's factories in the Russian Federation called 'Rusal'. Analysis: Ukraine continues to make efforts to reduce the influence of Russian oligarchs on the country's economy. The nationalization of Oleg Deripaska's assets for over 2 billion UAH is an important step in countering his financing of Russia's war against Ukraine. Thus, Ukraine demonstrates its determination to fight against the aggressor and protect its national interests. Further steps by the country regarding the confiscation of assets from Russian oligarchs can be effective and force Russia to abandon its aggression against Ukraine.
