Repatriation of Fallen Defenders: Results
As a result of the repatriation measures carried out, the bodies of 909 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine. This was reported by 'Glavcom', citing the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (CHTPPW).
Among the returned defenders, the fallen are from the Kurakhiv, Pokrovsk, Bakhmut, Vuhledar, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv directions, as well as from morgues on the territory of the Russian Federation.
‘We express our gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross,’ it is stated in the message.
It is noted that investigators from law enforcement agencies, in cooperation with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will establish the identities of the deceased in the shortest possible Time.
We remind you that on April 18, as a result of the repatriation measures carried out, the bodies of 909 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine. The same number of deceased servicemen was returned on March 28.
In November, it was possible to return the bodies of 502 fallen defenders. On November 8, 563 bodies were returned, and in January 2025 – 757 fallen defenders.
Law enforcement continues to investigate more than 50 criminal cases regarding the murders of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Analyzing the material, it can be said that the Ukrainian authorities continue to do everything possible to return the fallen defenders and establish the specific identities of the deceased. The repatriation of bodies is an important stage in restoring dignity and honoring fallen warriors. Additionally, the active work of law enforcement in the investigation of crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war indicates the importance of justice and the fight against impunity.
