Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Zakhodzhi suffered his first defeat in his career and lost the EBU title.


Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Zakhodzhi suffered defeat in his first fight and was unable to defend the EBU heavyweight championship title.
The competition took place in Heidelberg, Germany. Zakhodzhi's opponent was Kosovo's Labinot Xhodzai.
In the second round, Zakhodzhi managed to send his opponent to the canvas, but Xhodzai was able to get back up.
In the 9th round, Zakhodzhi seemed to take the initiative, but in the following 3-minute period, the boxer from Kosovo sent the Ukrainian to the canvas again.
In the end, the victory was unanimously awarded to Xhodzai - 116:110, 115:111, 116:110.
It is worth noting that this was Zakhodzhi's first title defense. The Ukrainian lost his belt and suffered his first defeat in his career after 19 wins (15 by knockout).
Xhodzai became Zakhodzhi's opponent just five days before the fight, as the previous opponent, Swiss Arnold Gerdzhay, suffered an injury and was unable to compete.
Oleksandr Zakhodzhi debuted in the professional ring in 2017. The EBU title is the most prestigious belt he has won so far.
Let us remind you that Zakhodzhi had his first fight in the last nine months against Czech Pavel Seura, in which he defeated him by knockout. This fight was the 16th for the Ukrainian in the professional ring, of which 12 were won by knockout.
