Israel claims there will be no 'long-term occupation' of Lebanon - CNN.

The Israeli side emphasizes that their army is conducting a limited operation in Lebanon, but does not plan a long-term presence in the south of the country. This was stated by a high-ranking Israeli official during a conversation with American journalists. Jerusalem is trying to present this ground operation in southern Lebanon as limited in scale. However, Israeli officials refuse to disclose the duration of the operation and the depth of penetration into Lebanese territory.
At the beginning of September, it was announced that the IDF had created a military zone in northern Israel near the border with Lebanon. Later, the evacuation of residents of Beirut suburbs and attacks on 'Hezbollah' targets were announced. The Israeli aviation struck at 'strategic' 'Hezbollah' targets in the suburbs of the Lebanese capital.
