Scientists have created a harmless powder that absorbs greenhouse gas from the air.

Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley have developed a special powder that can capture carbon dioxide from the air and release it at low temperatures. According to the scientists, this powder has strong chemical bonds and is harmless to the environment and human health. It can successfully absorb and release carbon dioxide more than 100 times.
This powder is a crystalline organic framework based on olefin. It takes about two hours to fill the crystals with carbon, after which they are heated to release the gas before the next cycle. A low temperature of about 50° is needed to release the carbon dioxide.
The use of this powder will help solve the problem of the high energy intensity of the process of obtaining carbon dioxide from the air. The level of methane, a harmful greenhouse gas, in the atmosphere rises every year, making this development an important step in the fight against climate change.
