Ukraine expresses interest in creating a free trade zone with the USA

Ukraine plans to establish a free trade zone with the United States, which will open new opportunities for exporting Ukrainian goods to the American market. This was announced by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy - Trade Representative of Ukraine, at the conference 'Trade Wars: The Art of Defense.'

'Ukraine is interested in this despite the fact that the US is not our largest trading partner. However, we are interested in free trade agreements with all G7 members. That is, we have agreements with the UK, Canada, the EU. We need the US and Japan,' Kachka noted.

According to him, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already sent a letter to US President Donald Trump with a proposal on this matter. The Trade Representative emphasized that duty-free access to the markets of developed countries is very important for Ukrainian exporters due to higher profitability.

'Higher quality requirements create more added value and greater profitability. From this perspective, it is important for us to emphasize the opportunities to export to the US and to have a free trade agreement,' Kachka emphasized.

He also added that the establishment of a free trade zone with the US will create better conditions for the Ukrainian-American Investment Fund, which will be established after signing the agreement on subsoil.

Earlier, the European Parliament supported the 'trade visa-free regime' for Ukraine.
