October 2024: Russia to suffer the highest losses in the war against Ukraine
In October 2024, the Russian Federation witnessed one of the highest levels of losses among its military units during the war with Ukraine. This was reported by Janek Kesselmann, Deputy Head of Estonian Intelligence.
According to him, Russian occupation forces continue to advance along the entire front line thanks to massive shelling and so-called «meat assaults».
Russia's losses are quite high. And this month appears to be one of the biggest in terms of losses for Russia. According to our estimates, the enemy will lose about 40,000 servicemen this month, both wounded and killed», – stated Kesselmann.
The main blow of Russian attacks is focused on the settlements of Zelenoje and Kurakhove in the Pokrovske direction of the Donetsk region. Kesselmann noted that recently the Russian tactic is to avoid entering settlements as it requires more complex preparation.
Therefore, they besiege settlements with indirect fire. Once a settlement is surrounded, they simply destroy it. A very cynical and disgusting thing», – added Kesselmann.
In the area of Chasiv Yar, there was also advancement of Russian units. However, in the territories occupied by Ukrainian forces, the situation remains stable. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to prepare maneuvers and ambushes against Russian units.
Recently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces achieved success in the Kursk region, where they advanced near Korenewo.
In addition, Russian forces are intensifying their strikes on the Kharkiv region, primarily using guided aerial bombs. Since the beginning of the year, over 3.7 thousand such attacks have been recorded, which is a significant increase compared to 2023. Most attacks target energy and civilian infrastructure.
