After the night shelling on July 10, a smog formed over Kyiv due to numerous fires caused by hits and debris. Residents of many areas report a noticeable smell of burning.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, as of the morning of July 10, the level of air pollution in the capital remains low.

According to data from city reference monitoring stations, the levels of harmful substances, including particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, do not exceed the norms. However, the smell of smoke can still be felt near fire sites or in areas where it is carried by the wind.

Experts explain that meteorological conditions significantly affect the perception of air quality: the wind can carry harmful particles or lift them into the upper layers of the atmosphere, so the real sensations of people do not always coincide with the readings of instruments.

In case there is a smell of smoke in your area, it is recommended to:

  • close windows,
  • limit staying outside,
  • drink more water to maintain hydration.

You can monitor the air quality in real-Time on the website asm.kyivcity.gov.ua or through the Kyiv Digital application.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the death of a police officer in Kyiv as a result of the shelling.

In addition, the public transport schedule and routes in Kyiv have temporarily changed due to the shelling.

It has been reported that after the night shelling on July 10, the air situation in the city is worse due to a number of fires, but the pollution level remains low. The perception of air quality may differ from official indicators due to the influence of meteorological conditions. It is recommended to follow certain safety measures in case of the presence of a smoke smell in the area.
