The Ministry of Youth and Sports has appointed Oleksandr Polyakov, who worked in Crimea after the occupation, as the head coach of the national team.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has appointed Oleg Polyakov as the head coach of the women's national weightlifting team of Ukraine, as reported by Anatoliy Orlov, a honored coach of Ukraine in weightlifting.
Previously, the selection committee recommended Natalia Filonenko, an Olympic champion, for this position.
Oleg Polyakov worked in Sevastopol with his trainees after the occupation in 2014. His appointment has caused criticism and outrage, particularly from Anatoliy Orlov, who accused the president of the Ukrainian Weightlifting Federation and the Minister of Youth and Sports of bribery.
He also noted that Polyakov had no success in training athletes and that his appointment is a disaster for weightlifting in Ukraine.
It is also mentioned that the Ukrainian national team will conduct training camps on the oligarch's bases at the expense of budget funds, which also causes outrage.
Additionally, it was reported that the coach of the Ukrainian tennis team, Oleksandr Tomarev, who was also appointed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, did not return to Ukraine after competitions abroad and continues to work with other tennis players abroad.
