Payments for housing rental for military veterans — what has changed and how to obtain it.

Starting from March 2025, a new form of support for defenders has been introduced in Ukraine — a monetary compensation for housing rental. This program is intended for those who do not have the opportunity to use their own accommodation. This is an important step in the state support system for military personnel who need assistance after completing their service.
The compensation mechanism has been created for the temporary support of veterans who have suffered losses due to the war. Compensation is provided only based on clearly defined criteria, among which the need for shelter is central. Participants in the program must meet certain categories and conditions.
Who can receive compensation
The program is targeted and designed only for certain categories of veterans, including military personnel, police officers, rescuers, and others. Conditions for receiving compensation include damaged housing due to combat actions, the location of real estate in hostile territory, or undergoing rehabilitation far from the place of registration.
Who will not receive assistance
It has been announced that starting from March 2025, Ukrainian veterans will have the opportunity to receive monetary compensation for housing rental if they do not own property. This program will help those who have suffered losses due to participation in the war and is an important step in improving the living conditions of defenders who need state support. Not all veterans can count on compensation. The state has established a list of categories that are not entitled to receive assistance, housing quality, or false information. The main goal is to ensure that assistance goes to those who truly need it.
